CHOICES
for Youth in Detention
empowering incarcerated young people through interactive health discussions
THE CHOICES PROGRAM
CHOICES For Youth in Detention is a medical student-run community service program at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine.

We bring 1st and 2nd year medical student volunteers into St. Louis City Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) once per week to facilitate small group discussion-based health seminars with young people in detention.
Our seminars are a unique and innovative blend of education and youth empowerment, designed both to enlighten and to give voice to our incarcerated young "discussion leaders."
OUR PROGRAMS
CHOICES is enjoying its ninth year at the Washington University in Saint Louis School of Medicine.

Plans to expand the CHOICES program to other medical schools are underway, with pilot programs starting at several other medical schools around the country in Fall 2024.
If you are a medical student interested in starting a CHOICES program at your medical school, please contact the program at info@CHOICESforyouthindetention.org
