MEET OUR FOUNDER
Dr. Gabriel Tissian, MD, MPHS
CHOICES Founder and National Director
Dr. Tissian is a proud graduate of the Washington University in Saint Louis School of Medicine, Class of 2021. Prior to beginning his medical training, Dr. Tissian worked for eleven years as a high school math and science teacher in New York City. He also spent over a decade working as a volunteer mentor and tutor to at-risk and incarcerated youth.
In developing the CHOICES program, Dr. Tissian combines his passion for medicine and public health with his love of working with young people and his experience as a youth educator and mentor.
Dr. Tissian is currently working as a medical resident and public health researcher at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. He is excited to see CHOICES continuing to inspire and empower young people in detention in Saint Louis and he hopes to bring the powerful CHOICES seminar to at-risk and incarcerated youth in other cities across the nation soon.
